"...One more thing regarding Wilburn B(rummett), the 1867-1869 Jack Co., voters ledger also says that Wilburn was a native of Tennessee. I have never verified TN as his birth place, but this does seem to be consistant. Trudy"

This is probably incorrect, most notes put him born in Ireland, 1900 census puts him in Virginia.

Message Board Post:

[The man you are asking about is] Wilburn Brummett, born about 1824 Tennessee. He, along with his first wife, Elizabeth Goddard, and children were early settlers of Jack County, TX. Sometime after his first wife died in 1885, he went into Indian Territory and married "Elizabeth H. Dillard, April 9, 1888". This quote is found in his Choctaw Citizenship Application. The marriage apparently ended in divorce.

In the 1900 Chickasaw Territory ( Marlow township) census., Wilburn Brummett is enumerated in the household (# 24) of Taylor Percival & Kate Bourland and is listed as "uncle". Living at household # 23 is Ed Simpson & wife, Elizabeth H. ( Halsey LeFlore Dillard); and at household # 25 Tandy Dillard.

Wilburn Brummett died at the home of Taylor Percival on September 19 or 20, 1902, Marlow, Oklahoma. Place of his burial and his relationship to Tayor Percival & Kate Bourland are unknown.

I had already located Edward Simpson and Elizabeth (LeFlore-Dillard-Brummett) Simpson in the 1900 census in Marlow, Chickasaw Nation, but never made the connection to the Brummett living next door in the Percival household.

This may be Wilburn's youngest and may be where Wilburn Sr. is buried.
